Mark is a generalist practitioner who provides counseling and mental health services to a variety of different clientele. Mark has experience treating children as young as five years old to adults of all ages who struggle with mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, behavioral problems, addiction, trauma, chronic pain, grief, anger and other problems. Mark specializes in treating chronic, long-term problems such as health related issues, disabilities, addictions, and trauma history.

Mark began his career in mental health in 1995 when hired by Personal Growth & Learning Center to be an Activities Therapist and Driver for a geriatric day program for senior citizens suffering from depression, anxiety and other mental health problems. Mark enjoyed being a young and energetic college student who came to liven up the senior group with beach ball, bingo and parking lot mini-golf. At day’s end, on the client’s van ride home Mark often heard feedback about clients’ day in the treatment center including techniques learned, insights gained and behavioral changes planned. That time was an introduction to mental health treatment and evidence of benefits of effective mental health treatment. Mark enjoyed the early work so much he decided to pursue a master’s degree in clinical social work so that he could continue to work with people on helping them improve their quality of life.

Mark is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to address post-traumatic stress issues and attended multiple workshops on hypnosis to address trauma, addiction, acute and chronic pain, mood disorders and other issues. He is in the process of completing extensive training to treat sexual addiction as well as chemical addiction, gambling addiction and other addictive behaviors. He is also trained and comfortable using other more traditional modalities, including cognitive­
behavioral therapy, behavior management models, rational emotive therapy, grief therapy, life-coaching and play therapy techniques.

Mark feels that each client presents with different circumstances, so treatment methods are tailored to individual client needs. Mark is accepting new clients and looks forward to helping them achieve their goals.
